Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to install packages from the SFE repository (http://sfe.opencsw.org/localhostoih) but the pkg command times out each time.  Tried pointing my browsers to the repository home page and they times out.  Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Hi

It's a problem on the providers side. Try checking in the next few days.

Greetings

Hello Rasaki,

yes, unfortunatly the machine serving the solaris zone for
sfe.opencsw.org is down. It might be a hardware issue.

I hope to get help by the opencsw people soon, so the service
can be restored.

In the meantime you could set the repository to "disabled" with

pfexec pkg set-publisher --disable localhostoih

But please rememeber to enable it again when the site comes back online.

I'll post updates to twitter @sfepackages and on IRC and this mailing
list.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

Regards,
Thomas

Thanks for responding so quickly Thomas and Till.

I did disable the repository last night so I could get other packages installed from hipster and hipster-encumbered. Look forward to getting libreoffice and kvmadm from SFE when it is back up and running.

SFE seems to be back up if any one is interested. The updates went okay
yesterday and today.

Yes, I am encountering the same issue as well. This is one of the places
I get some software to run day-to-day tasks, so it is vital (to me).

Also, when I try to update I get this message:

https://pastebin.com/JiRLpLE8

According to the person who runs the site, on his blog, he likes to get
feedback when something is working--or not. The feedback can come in the
form of comments on the blog or direct emails which are provided on the
site. I think it is good for morale to send a message, which will be on
my 'to-do' list. Besides, these people do good work, the packages work
nicely on my machine.

I noticed that too but it seem that this is a temporary solution and some of the packages are quite old.  Here is the message at the repository website:

SFE is running on the backup site.
There is no functional difference to the primary site, only
the connection bandwidth is limited compared to the primary site.

Packages quite old? I'm sorry, but you know it is you who can help updating.
Thats the way Open Source works. How OpenIndiana, Illumos and SFE works.

Thanks for the clarification. Once I get settled and have some time I would love to help with updating packages. I really like OpenIndiana after coming over from FreeBSD. Hoping to get FreeBSD in a kvm for some packages but love OpenIndian performance and tools.
